Ahhhh! Shield your eyes! Hide your children!

It’s lesbian PDA!

Seriously, though. Southwest kicked ALICE off a plane?

Or rather… passengers were bothered enough by Leisha Hailey and Nina Garduno that they had to flag down the flight attendants?

I happened to watch The Children’s Hour for the first time this weekend. If you haven’t seen it, Audrey Hepburn and Shirley MacLaine are schoolteachers accused of having “sinful sexual knowledge of each other” and for being “unnatural”.

It’s disturbing to see the way the characters are treated just for being suspected of gay-all-the-wayness. Yet I felt strangely upbeat when it was over.

I thought about how much progress has been made since this movie came out in 1961 and how lucky am I to be coming to terms with my sexuality in the very progressive year of 2011.

Then Alice gets kicked off a plane for getting upset that a flight attendant thinks her behavior isn’t “family friendly”!

Either Leisha overreacted and is embarrassing herself and the LGBT community by crying discrimination thereby setting us all back, or we really are living in a world where people are that bothered by a little gay PDA and where these ordinary people hold enough power to potentially have any one of us removed from their sight.

I’m too tired to know which to root for at the moment.

I don’t pride myself on being “family oriented” in my blog material..

My most recent posts this included may be borderline inappropriate but I LOVE this (and Tina Fey).

“Marilla,” she demanded presently, “do you think that I shall ever have a bosom friend in Avonlea?”

Yep-I’m-Gay Moment #4

Back when I was adorably oblivious…

An aunt I hadn’t seen in years asked, “So what kind of guys do you go for?”

“Hmmmmm,” I daydreamed for a moment before responding. “For some reason I tend to prefer… Keanu Reeves-types. Or that young guy from ER.”

I felt the need to elaborate. “You know, slightly feminine pretty boys. With sort of delicate features. Guys who are sensitive. With nice hair. Slender hands…”

Whoa, what am I saying?? Stop, Cassandra, stop! You sound like a WEIRDO. Fix this!

“And lots of muscles. Like the gladiator guy.”

Save.

“just a playful kiss” YEAH RIGHT

I hate you Gilbert adljflsdjf ;-;

The sweetest scene was when Diana tells Anne that they are forbidden to see each other. Gilbert’s scenes had nothin’ on that!
